Event Info
Open Road is Worcester’s sustainable and earth-friendly music and arts festival. On Sat, September 8th 2012, we’ll have 2 stages with over 20 bands, an eclectic variety of cuisine, many local artists and vendors, family-friendly activities and much more. Live music kicks off at 11:00am and will proceed until 8:00pm (later this year!). Vendors will be located around the perimeter to sell art, crafts, food, and more.
Kids 10 and under are always free. There will be college discounts as well as WOO card member discounts!
The goal of Open Road is to raise the awareness of alternative and sustainable lifestyles while bringing the Worcester community (and beyond) together to enjoy local art and extraordinary music.
OUR GREENING INITIATIVE
- Matching all electricity use with local wind power from sources like the Holy Name Wind Turbine (via Mass Energy Consumers Alliance)
(Green your electricity just like the Open Road Festival!)
- Recycle and Trash bins located throughout the festival grounds
- Porta potties are environmentally green certified
- All marketing/promotional materials use either organic, recycled or water based products
- All Kids Village activities and materials are recycled or re-purposed
KIDS VILLAGE
In the Kids Village, free face painting will be offered. In addition, some eco-friendly arts and crafts projects will also be offered so that kids can take their eco-creations home. Kids can also contribute to our interactive art wall, and of course, learn about how to live better and more green in a fun and engaging way. Remember, admission is FREE for kids under 10!
CHARITY & DONATIONS
A portion of the proceeds will go to the Joy Of Music Program in Worcester.
Strangers Helping Strangers will also be doing a food drive at the event. Please bring non-perishables to kindly donate!
